Christ Methodist Nursery School
Goals and Vision
The primary purpose of Christ
Methodist Nursery School (CMNS) is to encourage children to be
self-reliant and cooperative as they develop in this phase of their
life. We all want children who feel valued and are willing to be
generous with others.
The program at CMNS provides an
environment of free choices, exploration, and discovery.
Activities are chosen to foster curiosity and creativity, and to
develop large and small motor skills.
During the first five years of life,
more learning takes place than at any other time. The child's
relationship with the world as well as his/her learning patterns is
determined at this time. Therefore, the staff at CMNS strives for
successful and emotional experiences for each child.
CMNS is a non-profit organization,
licensed by the State Department of Social Services. Special events are held during the
school year when parents and outside guests are invited to attend.
Regular class hours are from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Church Affiliation
CMNS is an outreach program of
Christ Church United Methodist. The church's goal is to support a
quality affordable children's program for church members and the
community. The school is administered by its directors and the school
council. It is ultimately accountable to the Administrative Council of
Christ Church. The nursery school has no religious component in its
program and is administered independent of the church.
Registration materials can be
requested by calling (707) 526-0204.

Christ Methodist Nursery School
- Submitted by Susan Roxson
Imagine a host of flour-covered three year olds, five sets of twins spinning like a dreidels, or a group of “kitties” who respond only with meows and purrs. This is Christ Methodist Nursery School. On any given day, children from ages three to five play, explore, and discover how to be part of a community of learners.
I experience the blessing of being part of that journey with colleagues Susan Chamberlain, Renee Blair, Caroline Sloan, Sally Allarie, and fellow co-director Jan Foote. I am also proud to be a member of Christ Church who supports this thriving, growing outreach program.
We begin 2008 with full enrollment, a growing waiting list for the Fall, and a commitment to affordable, quality pre-school education. Parents recognize that our school offers the best for their children, including an expanded after-school enrichment program in the Arts and Sciences and a small-group program for older students within the school day. Offering a sliding scale for tuition, annual vision/hearing screening, and scholarships, CMNS reflects the values modeled by our church.
This winter, teachers were gratified by the anonymous donation of $500 for “our hard work,” enabling us to purchase a digital camera and new window blinds for the classrooms. Although we may be employed as teachers, our work represents much more to us than a job. We appreciate the opportunities afforded to us through our relationship with Christ Church.
Thank you for your steadfast support as we enter our 35th year.
